Regardless of your political leanings, it is fairly uncontroversial to state that the senior political figures of the United Kingdom have not covered themselves in glory recently. In the past few years alone, we have had several high-profile political scandals, which have surely eroded faith in those in authority.
Seriously though, I think the whole system of politics is designed to attract people who are narcissistic and arrogant. Certainly those politicians who hit the headlines are those types - precisely because they are acting in that way it attracts attention.
There must be hardworking politicians in the background, in it for the ideological good reasons of helping make positive changes for the people in this country… but they’re the ones who go unnoticed, for that very reason that they’re just getting on with their jobs…
